The United nations Populations Fund (UNFPA) concern on the high maternal mortality rate on the continent inspired them to mobilize countries in Africa to adopt a strategy to curb the mortality rate. Namibia was one of the first countries to take a bold step and implemented CARMMA,,,the Campaign on Accelerated Reduction in Maternal Mortality in Africa.
