Three murders in one single day in Windhoek.

Windhoek. City Police and the Namibian Police ( Nampol) attended to three cases of murder of which one was a woman believed to be in her mid 20's that was allegedly sexually assaulted before murdered. 25 Jan will go down in our history as a dark day in crime. More on this on Namibiapress Nampa as from 26 Jan.

apart from the murders, a public figure arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, he tried to outrun members of the city police for failing to stop at roadblock, instead he sped of, and was involved in MV accident causing extensive damage to a school bus, road signs and his luxury white sedan. More on that on Namibiapress Nampa.

Namibia's Golden Girl on her way to Scotland, hopefully she'll bring back more gold

Namibia's first ever Golden medalist at the 2012 Olympics are on her way to Scotland to take part in the Grand prix. Johanna Benson from the coastal town of Walvis bay in the Erongo region made us all stand tall when she received her golden medal at the Paralympics last year, and now again in the UK. For a second gold?

Tragic death on western bypass outside Windhoek. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3HtXS7cPBM&feature=youtu.be

Tragic death on the Western Bypass on the outskirts of the city.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3HtXS7cPBM&feature=youtu.be

According to Chief Abraham Kanime from Windhoek City Police this is the 12th on this road in less than a year. In my opinion, Namibia boasts with the best road infrastructure on the continent, it is more an issue of drivers attitude that contributes to the fatalities.

Grim Reaper feast continues as two more people died during the early morning hours of Sunday in Windhoek.

One person died and two sustained slight injuries after
a VW Golf rammed into an oncoming truck
on the Western Bypass on the outskirts of Windhoek around
03h00 this morning. The accident could have prevented if
the driver of the VW with a Windhoek registration plate,
did not drive on the wrong side of
the double lane road. So what made him drive
on the wrong side of the road? drinking? arrogance? ignorance?
or was he on a suicide mission? Many unanswered questions.

Way too many people
die on Namibian roads in Motor vehicle related
accidents. Despite various campaigns run by
authorities, it is clear and evident, IT DOES NOT WORK.
What are the solutions then? Stiffer penalties?
suspension of driver's license? confiscate reckless driver's
vehicles? name and shame? no tolerance for drinking and driving?

One thing is for sure , regardless what authorities say or do,
IT IS NOT EFFECTIVE!

driving on our roads be it to work, shop, leisure, holiday, it
remains a live threatening gamble to drive on our roads. Going to work tomorrow
is not a guarantee I will arrive safely there, or even back home.

This country's leaders should sit down and make take remedial
actions. Not only sit like the previous consultative
meetings at the coast where all of them looked important on the news paper
clippings. But in reality it was a waste
of tax payers and donor money.

I think, I start now to understand why the Namibian population
doesn't grow, they kill themselves on the countries roads. The only winners
in this scenario are the undertakers, as they got themselves a
constant flow of clients. Be it reckless drivers, drunk drivers or innocent
fellow road users, there will be always coffins ready.
