South African Animal activist and her husband held in Angola by that country's police force at the Oshikango border post.

According to News 24 Maghitta Visser and her husband Dirk and Marchelle Vermaak who traced more than 30 dogs smuggled to Angola via Namibia were arrested at Oshikango border post. It is not sure how many dogs are involved, but sources claim 38 pedigree dogs were transported in inhumane conditions to Angola. It is not sure why the dogs are smuggled to Angola, but dog fighting is not excluded. Visser allegedly went to the Angolan border to rescue the animals when she together with her family was locked up. Angolan authorities claimed they done so for the activists own safety, but activists who were in contact with Visser said they were assaulted.
