Namibian subsistence farmers contribute more employment opportunities in rural areas than one can imagine. Many of these farmers are women as their husbands mostly work in cities for an additional income. Their farming/agricultural knowledge may not always be up to scratch, but their willingness to learn and earn an income by just doing what they do best, small scale farming is a sure drive among many of them. The Namibian Government through it Environments Ministry's Country Pilot Partnership ( CPP ) assist these farmers in various ways. Be it means of training, advice or financial assistance it mean a lot to them as they start to earn an income. This money means more than a coin in the purse, it gives their children education, provides them with a roof, cloth them and above all ,,,,gives them dignity making them part of the mainstream community.
