Members of the Namibian Police prevented a possible catastrophic incident when they stopped a sedan vehicle at the Swakopmund roadblock. Initially the vehicle was stopped for an expired licence disc but closer investigation lead to an unbelievable but true find. On general appearance the vehicle appeared overloaded but with two adults in the front and four relatively small children on the back seat it appeared impossible. When the officer asked the driver to explain this phenomenon the driver replied that the shocks were very close to being depleted. The officer did not want to believe the driver and inspected the vehicle in full. When the officer requested the driver to open the luggage compartment he was astounded by his find ….. another 2 children nicely rapped in duvets in the luggage compartment. Erongo Police Commissioner Samuel //Hoëbeb and the Swakopmund Nampol Station Commander were also astounded by the find and spoke to the driver in person highlighting the possible dangers involved. According to the West Coast safety Initiative Face Book site….. all issues raised were addressed in a very appropriately and efficient manner !!!!
