NOT FOR SENSITIVE VIEWERS.
According the Namibian Motor Vehicle Accident Fund -MVAF, 13 people died during the first six days of this month alone, meaning 2 people died every day on our roads on average, while 18 people were injured in an average of 9 accidents reported daily. Many of the accidents so far this year more than 5 people died in the same accident due to various reasons, one of them speeding the other overloading. This make one believe taxi and long distance bus operators have only one thing in mind, to make money at the cost of safety.
I believe there are still law-abiding-road-safety-conscious motorists. The MVA Accident response number is 081 9682. Use this number to report any incidents that might jeopardize your road safety. And let us see if the authorities are serious in safeguarding our roads.
YTD. Statistics as per MVA dd.September 6.
Accidents 2147
fatalities 362
Injuries 3706
This is what most taxi and long distance
bus operators see.
This is what they never see. |
