The Namib West coast is renowned for it's many shipwrecks along the coast. And today she claimed another vessel as the Chamarel drifted helpless flames and smoke billowing from her inside.

The vessel " Chamarel"was recently a sight at the
West Coast of Africa as she was tasked to lay
the multi million dollar WACS cable from Cape Town
to Europe. Unconfirmed reports said she
made a quick stop at the port of Walvis Bay
dropping of some of a crew member before
leaving for Cotonou Benin when tragedy
struck at mile 68 north
of Hentiesbay. All her crew were rescued and
returned to Walvisbay by the Nataneul Maxwilili
patrol vessel from the Fisheries Ministry.

thick smoke billowing from her as the inferno
destroys everything in it's way. All crew were
at the time of the pictures rescued and taken to the
Harbor town of Walvis bay from where she left a few hours
earlier.

Smoke pouring from the vessel. The cause of the fire is
unclear and investigations teams will only
be able to go onboard once the fire is extinguished.

residents and environmentalists are all
the same as the oil and other hazardous chemicals
might spill into the ocean and damage the
ecological sensitive area.
