12 SA pilots arrested, due to miscommunication between authorities.
12 SA pilots arrested by Namibian Police after miscommunication between authorities. The arrest of the 12 recreational pilots took place at Ondagwa airport after pilots landed their small aircraft there from Rundu. they were released in the meantime. More in Namibia media tomorrow.

Two people and at least 30 heads of cattle also died in a horrible accident outside Windhoek.
Two people died in a motor vehicle accident outside Windhoek on Monday afternoon. The driver of the bakkie involved was killed instantly, while the driver of the truck died in the ambulance after he was freed from the wreck. It took rescue workers almost two hours to free him from the wrecked cabin. Follow the link to look at the footage of the accident .

The 61st Windhoek Carnival ended this past week end.
The annual Windhoek Carnival (WIKA) grew from a mere social gathering back then to one of the biggest social events on the Namibian calendar.

(500th posting) Windhoek residents mess up own sewerage lines.
Residents in some informal residential areas are destroying their own health and environment by destroying the sewerage systems that is suppose to take away human waste. Nampa spoke to the City of Windhoek on this issue after sewerage water filled the beautiful UN Plaza in the city.

A museum under construction for the thousands of Ovahereros who died during the 1904 genocide. The extermination order was given by German Forces ( Schutztruppe) Commander Lothar von Trotha in 1904. The United nations Populations Fund (UNFPA) concern on the high maternal mortality rate on the continent inspired them to mobilize countries in Africa to adopt a strategy to curb the mortality rate. Namibia was one of the first countries to take a bold step and implemented CARMMA,,,the Campaign on Accelerated Reduction in Maternal Mortality in Africa.
